Special update...
Little Hudson-Taylor just came through his second major
surgery and is doing well. Continue to pray that he will eat
tonight and in the morning so he can go home. I just left
Melissa and my mother with him for the night. I am now in the
hotel getting ready for a bit of rest. I am leaving for
Collinsville, VA. on Saturday and I don't want to travel
alone. We are so grateful to the Lord for His goodness as well
as wonderful friends around the world who pray for us so
often.
I just returned from my second trip to Nigeria, West Africa.
It was absolutely amazing. God did marvelous things in all of
our hearts. I preached 22 times in 5 days. I also took a dear
evangelist friend of mine with me on the trip. His name is
Bobby Bolin and he has cerebral palsy. He is confined to
crutches and a wheel chair, but he is one of the finest and
most powerful preachers you will ever meet.
We had wonderful meetings in every town that we visited. Our
hearts were broken over the spiritual condition of the people.
We would preach to literally thousands and thousands in one
service and when asked how many had a Bible, only 10 or 12
people could raise their hands. We were invited by Spread the
word Ministries. It is the only ministry in that entire region
that freely distributes the Word of God. you can visit them on
the web at
www.spreadthewordministries.org Pastor Godstime is doing
an outstanding job. If you would like to help us get Bibles
into the hands of these dear people, please contact our office
and we will see that they arrive safely and timely.
AND NOW FOR THE AMAZING NEWS...
While on our trip, we were struck by the lack of teaching that
the precious Nigerians have of God's Word. Most of the pastors
have never had real strong Bible training. The Charismatic
movement has dominated the entire country and Bible believing
Fundamentalism is unheard of. It is for this very reason that
God led us to found and start a Bible College. We spent much
time in prayer as well as executive meetings getting things
off the ground. It is overwhelming how quickly the Lord is
working. Support is already coming in and we could certainly
use much more. Land has been donated, students are enrolling
and the paperwork for an established Nigerian college has been
accepted. We are now an actual diploma granting,
government/privately owned accredited school of higher
learning. The Lord provided us with an office complex. We
hired a full-time secretary as well as a full-time public
relations manager. Pastor Godstime of Spread the Word is our
registrar/rector. It has only been founded for one week and
the applications are pouring in. We have a website under
construction, but you may view the progress at The people
desired (with no choosing of our own) to name the college
after my son. And so, Hudson Bible College is now begun. We
are amazed at the work of God. We are establishing teaching
materials and subject matter now and we are fully intending on
beginning our first one month, eight hour a day semester in
April. We will already start with over 1,000 pastors. Please
pray that God will give us wisdom. We are going to take
American pastors and teachers with us a couple times a year as
we get things underway. We have sole authority of the college
from the U.S. and we do all of the teaching and preaching. If
you have any questions, please call me and I will give you
much more detail.
We have already met opposition. However, it is mostly from
"Christians" who aren't doing anything better than being
critical of those who are. This is something that has never
been done in that part of the world and we need prayer,
wisdom, power and finances. If you have any suggestions, we
are certainly open to all of them. We realize the enormity of
this undertaking, but where God guides, He provides. What an
opportunity we have to impact an entire nation with the truths
of the perfect Word of God!
Please understand that this is strictly an Independent,
Fundamental Baptist College. It is not under a particular
local church at this moment. There are no Fundamental Baptist
churches there. That is why this training institution is so
vital. We are excited, yet a little nervous. The Lord has
blessed our travel schedule tremendously, but being the
president of a Bible college will certainly add to the load.
Well, much more will be written later. This is merely an
overview of What God is doing. We also have another
established ministry in Africa that we founded last year. It
is called the Africa Revival Team. It has literally exploded
and we are anticipating great and mighty things which we know
not.
PLEASE PRAY AND STAY IN OUCH!!!
